What it does
Sorts features by how they affect satisfaction: basic (expected, painful when missing), performance (more is better), delight (unexpected, disproportionately loved), indifferent, and reverse (actively unwanted).
When to reach for it
Before an MVP scope, to separate must-have from nice-to-have on something firmer than instinct. Also after a brainstorm, to make a feature pile comparable.
Worth knowing
Delight features age into basics. A Kano read is a snapshot, not a constant.
