You are on the alpha plan. Everyone approved for the closed alpha starts on Trial: 500 credits, no card, no API key. The paid plans further down are what we intend to offer at public launch — none of them can be bought today.
Trial — what you have now

Since #669 the budget renews: renew_free_tier_credits() sets it back to the
plan allowance once the billing period rolls over. It used to be a one-shot,
which meant a tester who ran five discovery chains was simply done — at exactly
the point where they had started reporting something useful.
- 500 credits a month. Enough to run every method a good number of times.
- Every method except image and video generation. Those two need your own API key — see below.

Why image and video need your own key
Not to hold them back, but because 500 credits cannot carry them honestly. One video costs 800 — the run could never finish. One image costs 100, so five of them and the budget is gone, with nothing left for the methods you came to try.
Blocked is more honest than unaffordable. Connect your own API key and both open up — Settings → Account → AI Providers. That also moves you to Community: you keep working, your provider bills you directly, and Plooi credits stop applying.
Transcripts and music stay open on Trial — the transcript is a real entry point into discovery, not a novelty. Music and a transcript from a text file cost 20 credits. A transcript from an audio file costs 80, so a Trial’s 500 credits are six of them.

Common questions
Can I buy a plan today?
No. The alpha is invitation-only and every approved tester is on Trial. Purchase flows go live with public launch.
What happens when my 500 credits run out?
You connect your own API key and continue on Community. Nothing is deleted and nothing locks — the canvases stay yours.
Can I top up credits?
At launch, yes: credit packs as one-time purchases, capped per month by plan — Starter 2, Plus 5, Pro 20. No meter runs in the background. Free and Trial have no packs; the Trial moves on by adding a key, not by buying credits.
Do unused credits roll over?
One-time credits — the Free grant and the Trial budget — do not expire. Monthly credits roll over once: a quiet month is not wasted, two quiet months in a row is.
Can I change plans later?
At launch, yes — change or cancel any time, with differences prorated.
