What it does

Eight ideas, one panel each, under time pressure — the sketching exercise from the Google Design Sprint. The constraint is the method: eight forces you past your first two obvious answers.

When to reach for it

Early in ideation, when breadth matters more than depth. It is also the fastest way out of a creative standstill, because quantity removes the fear of a bad idea.

⚠ What it is not

Not an open board — there are exactly eight panels, and a re-run refills only the ones you did not lock, star or edit. Each panel is a short title plus one or two sentences, concrete enough to draw, and every one has to take a different angle from the other seven. Ideation returns five to eight ideas instead; Brainstorming keeps appending rounds to one growing list. The eight minutes are a discipline you bring — the method itself runs no clock.

Worth knowing

The point is not that all eight are good. The point is that the good one is usually number six.
