What it does

Turns the empathy work — a persona, an empathy map, an insight, an interview — into one sentence: “[User] needs a way to [need] because [insight].” Each of the three parts comes with its own evidence, pulled from whatever is connected, not invented.

When to reach for it

After the empathy work, before How Might We. A team that argues in circles about “the user” usually hasn’t written this sentence yet — it forces a choice.

Worth knowing

The sentence is a bet, not a summary. Edit or lock any part and a re-run leaves it alone; the method’s job is naming who you’re betting on and why, not covering every possibility.
